PayPal survey: Nearly 40% of merchants have accepted crypto payments, and half of the companies with annual revenue exceeding US$500 million have joined the game
According to Foresight News, a latest survey released by PayPal shows that nearly 40% (39%) of merchants already accept cryptocurrency payments, and more than four-fifths (84%) of merchants believe that cryptocurrency payments will be popular in the next five years. The survey was conducted in late October 2025 and covered approximately 620 "payment strategy decision makers."
A significant number of merchants that already accept crypto payments say that crypto payments account for more than a quarter of their total sales, and about three-quarters of the merchants report that related sales have increased in the past year. In terms of scale, crypto payment adoption is primarily driven by large enterprises. About 50% of businesses with annual revenue of more than $500 million already accept crypto payments, compared with 34% of small and 32% of mid-sized businesses. In addition, about 90% of merchants said that they would be willing to try encrypted payment if the experience and access process were comparable to traditional bank card payment.
