Israeli media: Netanyahu will visit the United States and may discuss plans to attack Iran

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on the 22nd local time that he will discuss the Iranian issue and the arrangements for the next phase of the Gaza ceasefire with US President Donald Trump during his visit to the United States at the end of the month. Reuters reported on the 23rd that Netanyahu made the above remarks at a joint press conference held after meeting with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides in Jerusalem.
In his speech, Netanyahu mentioned that Israel has taken note of Iran's recent military drills. According to Reuters, earlier on the 22nd, Iran conducted missile exercises in multiple cities, marking the second such drill reported in the country within a month.
It is reported that Netanyahu is preparing for his meeting with Trump, which will be the sixth meeting between the two since the latter returned to the White House. The meeting is scheduled to be held on the 29th at Mar-a-Lago in Florida, US, but Trump said on the 18th that the meeting has not been officially confirmed yet.
Haaretz reported that Netanyahu may once again raise the possibility of launching a military strike against Iran during the Mar-a-Lago meeting. For months, Israeli analysts have been warning that Iran is rapidly producing a large number of missiles, suggesting that Israel may need to launch a new round of military strikes. Israel previously focused on destroying Iran's nuclear program, but now it has shifted its focus to Iran's missile capabilities.
NBC News revealed earlier that during his visit to the US, Netanyahu may state that the expansion of Iran's ballistic missile program will not only pose a threat to Israel, but also endanger regional security and relevant US interests, requiring swift military action. The report said that Netanyahu is also expected to propose to Trump options for US participation in or assistance with the military operation.
Haaretz reported that there are few signs so far that Trump will support Israel in resuming military operations against Iran. As the US midterm election cycle kicks off, US support for another Israeli strike on Iran would undoubtedly be a political disaster for the Republican Party, and such a move may also trigger resistance from the "Make America Great Again" (MAGA) camp.
In terms of the arrangements for the next phase of the Gaza ceasefire, there are also differences between the US and Israel. The New York Times reported that Trump is now facing a tough choice: either restrain Israel, or watch this fragile strategic framework collapse under the pressure of Netanyahu's gradual escalation, with the window of opportunity to avoid a new round of war continuing to narrow.
