U.S. OCC: National banks can engage in risk-free entity transactions in crypto assets
According to Foresight News, according to new guidelines from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), national banks in the United States can engage in risk-free principal transactions of crypto assets on behalf of their customers. The document states that banks can act as brokers, buying assets from one counterparty while selling those assets to another counterparty. During this process, assets are typically sold as quickly as possible, and banking institutions do not hold any crypto assets “except in rare circumstances.”
