Acting Chairman of the CFTC of the United States: Considering Inclusion of Compliant Overseas Crypto Trading Platforms in US Cross-border Regulation
According to Foresight News, FOX Business reporter Eleanor Terrett said that Caroline D. Pham, acting chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), said in a recent speech that the agency is studying whether it can recognize overseas cryptocurrency trading platforms that follow sound, specifically target cryptocurrencies, such as the EU MiCA framework, under the U.S. cross-border regulatory framework. This statement follows the recent reaffirm of the CFTC’s long-term applicable framework for Foreign Transactions (FBOTs). The framework allows certain non-U.S. cryptocurrency trading platforms that have been regulated by foreign regulators to provide direct trading access to U.S. traders by registering as FBOT in the CFTC, rather than designated contract markets (DCMs).
