U.S. Senate Democrats demand Trump adviser Witkoff provide cryptocurrency investment details

According to Foresight News, U.S. Senate Democrats sent a letter to Trump’s special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, asking him to provide more details about his personal cryptocurrency investments. The letter, led by Sen. Adam Schiff and signed by eight senators, asks Witkoff to explain why his latest ethics disclosure filing shows he still holds stakes in Trump-related cryptocurrencies and other crypto business entities. The senators said the failure to divest assets raises questions about its compliance with federal ethics laws and its ability to put the interests of the American people ahead of personal financial interests.

Steve Witkoff and World Liberty Financial said in May that Witkoff was "fully divesting" its stake in the project. But his latest ethics disclosure filing on August 13 showed that he had divested $120 million worth of his stake in the real estate company but had not yet sold his cryptocurrency holdings. Senate Democrats claimed that Witkoff's ongoing business interests in crypto could create a conflict of interest because his role as the Middle East's top diplomat allegedly overlapped with World Liberty Financial's business ties to the United Arab Emirates. They gave Witkoff until Oct. 31 to respond.
