**Trump Appears to Face Another Threat!**
According to AXIOS, on Thursday evening local time, U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem stated that the U.S. Secret Service and the Department of Homeland Security are investigating a photo posted by former FBI Director James Comey on Instagram showing seashells arranged on a beach to spell out the numbers "8647."
Reports indicate that "86" is slang meaning "to eliminate," with some interpreting it as a call to kill. Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of former President Donald Trump, shared a screenshot of Comey's since-deleted post on X, commenting: "James Comey is casually calling for my father’s murder."
Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesperson for the U.S. Secret Service, stated that the agency is "vigorously investigating any incident that could pose a potential threat to our protectees." He added, "We take this responsibility very seriously and have noted the relevant social media post. Beyond that, we do not comment on protective intelligence matters."
### **The Latest Threat**
James Comey posted the photo of the seashell arrangement spelling "8647" on Instagram, captioning it: "I saw these cool shells while walking on the beach." The post was shared with his 130,000 followers.
"86" is slang for "to get rid of" or "eliminate." Comey later clarified in an updated post that he believed the shells conveyed "a political message" but was "unaware that some associate these numbers with violence."
Comey, appointed as FBI director by former President Barack Obama, has long been a registered Republican. In 2018, a year after Trump fired him from the FBI, he told ABC News, "The Republican Party has abandoned me and many others."
Kristi Noem posted on X Thursday night: "Disgraced former FBI Director James Comey just called for Trump’s assassination. DHS and the Secret Service are investigating this threat and will respond appropriately."
### **Secret Service Investigation**
Anthony Guglielmi reiterated that the agency is "vigorously investigating any potential threats to protectees" and noted they are "aware of the social media post in question."
Meanwhile, former FBI official Kash Patel stated on X that the bureau is aware of Comey’s post and is in communication with the National Security Agency and its director, Sean Curran. He added, "Primary jurisdiction for such matters lies with the Secret Service, and the FBI will provide any necessary support."
Unsurprisingly, the controversy has drawn reactions from high-ranking officials and staunch MAGA supporters, with social media posts lamenting "Democratic political violence." The incident appears tailor-made to galvanize the Trump movement, tapping into core grievances: distrust of the "deep state," a siege mentality among Trump supporters, and the belief that liberal violence is a real but underreported threat—especially after the January 6 Capitol riot.
Notably, White House Deputy Chief of Staff and Cabinet Secretary Taylor Budowich described Comey’s post as "deeply concerning to all of us" on X and emphasized that the matter is being taken seriously.
Budowich pointed out that Trump is currently on an international trip to the Middle East, while the former FBI director posted a message on the beach that could be interpreted as a threat against the former president.
Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) called for Comey’s arrest in a post on X.
In April, Trump told Fox News he "didn’t know what to believe" about two alleged assassination attempts against him during the 2024 campaign. His comments hinted that he might release more investigative findings to the public, suggesting dissatisfaction with the information provided by law enforcement.
Regarding the investigations, Trump said: "Neither the Secret Service nor the FBI has given me a perfect explanation. We have great people leading these agencies, and I want to hear from them. Even if it’s not public, I should be allowed to know. And I may choose to make it public."
