MetaMask to launch mUSD stablecoins on Ethereum and Linea
According to Foresight News, MetaMask will launch its own stablecoin mUSD on Ethereum and Linea later this year, according to The Block. The stablecoin will be issued by Stripe's Bridge and powered by M0. MetaMask plans to deeply integrate with Linea's DeFi stack, covering the lending market, decentralized exchanges and custody platforms. After it goes online, users will be able to deposit, hold, exchange, transfer and cross-chain mUSD within MetaMask. The company also plans to enable MetaMask card consumption function at merchants that accept Mastercard by the end of the year.
MetaMask added that mUSD will be fully supported by "high-quality, high-liquid dollar-equivalent assets" in a 1:1 ratio, and real-time transparency and cross-chain composability through M0's liquidity network. MetaMask may introduce additional incentives to reward early users. “Previously, in May this year, MetaMask co-founder Dan Finlay said the crypto wallet is still considering issuing native tokens.
